The Arts at ASA
At ASA, the arts are center stage
Every student participates in a Daily Arts Rotation, receiving structured instruction in art, dance, piano, vocal and theater. Through consistent practice, students develop focus, discipline, confidence, and a refined sense of beauty.
Art: Drawing and Painting
Students learn the foundations of art—proportion, perspective, light, and form.
They develop the ability to observe carefully and represent what they see. Through guided practice, students build patience, control, and attention to detail—skills that extend beyond the art studio.
Dance (Ballet and Chinese Dance)
Students develop strength, coordination, grace, and spatial awareness through disciplined movement training. Dance helps cultivate focus, posture, physical control, elegance, and confidence while encouraging artistic expression and self-discipline.
Piano
Students will learn music theory and have an opportunity to learn how to play the piano
Vocal
Music is an essential part of arts education. Through piano and vocal training, students develop pattern recognition, memory, listening skills, and concentration—abilities that strongly support both language development and mathematics. Music also brings joy, emotional expression, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for beauty and harmony.
Theater
Students learn to speak clearly and confidently. Through storytelling and performance, they develop expression, empathy, and presence.
Students regularly share their work through:
- Recitals
- Performances
- Exhibitions
These experiences build:
- Confidence
- Responsibility
- Self-expression
Why the Arts Matter
At ASA, we believe the arts are essential to a child’s intellectual, emotional, and moral development. In a world increasingly shaped by distraction, instant answers, and artificial intelligence, children need more than access to information. They need the ability to pay attention deeply, think creatively, and express themselves with clarity and humanity.
We also believe that beauty matters. When children learn to recognize beauty through music, art, movement, and nature, they become more sensitive to truth, goodness, and the deeper meaning of human experience.
Through disciplined artistic practice, students develop focus, patience, creativity, and confidence—habits that support both academic excellence and strong character throughout life.
